Ingredients

  • 2 cups white flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped

Directions

In a mixing bowl, combine the white flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

Add the plain yogurt, olive oil, minced garlic, and chopped parsley to the mixing bowl.

Mix the ingredients together until a soft dough forms.

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F) and place a baking sheet inside to preheat as well.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a teardrop or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

Heat a skillet over medium heat on the stovetop. Place one rolled naan bread onto the skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown spots appear.

Transfer the partially cooked naan bread onto the preheated baking sheet in the oven.

Repeat the process with the remaining naan bread portions.

Bake the naan bread in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes until puffed up and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and brush the hot naan bread with melted butter or olive oil.

Serve the garlic naan bread warm, sprinkled with additional minced garlic and chopped parsley if desired.
