Ingredients
- 4 green tomatos, tops cut off and insides scooped out
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1 cup yellow onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Place the prepared green tomatoes in a baking pan.
In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped celery and onions until soft, about 5 minutes.
Add the lean ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in garlic powder, dried oregano, ground black pepper, dried parsley, worcestershire sauce, and ground allspice. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Remove the skillet from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mix in the plain yogurt and half of the shredded cheddar cheese with the beef mixture.
Stuff each green tomato with the beef mixture and top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
